Larry and Colette

by Jessica on February 6th, 2013 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Larry and Colette have spent over a decade together, and I could not be more pleased that when they decided to take the leap, they chose Cavallo Point for the momentous occasion.  It would be impossible to spend time with this couple, and not fall head over heels for them.  They are sweet and funny, and their wedding was a sweet reflection of them with Colette’s mother acting as the ceremony officiant and her incredibly talented sister singing them a beautiful song.  Larry’s lovely adult daughters stood with him as his “best women”.  The color palette for this winter wedding was vibrant oranges and shades of rich purple with the amazing Baylor of Lila B creating a rustic elegance with her arrangements.  Sabine Scherer captured all of the beautiful details including my favorite- the moment when Colette strapped on a friends combat boots to brave a walk to the water for photos. What a gal!

Gina and Scott

by Jessica on January 30th, 2013 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Gina lives with such a passion and zest for life, it is truly a joy to watch. Scott plays the perfect calm and engaged counter -point to this, and I loved the way their beautiful day came out after many months of planning. There was a vintage feel to the details of Gina and Scott’s wedding day, planned by the wonderful women of Outlined Productions.  Mis-matched antique frames were used for the table numbers, a chalkboard sign highlighted the menu in place of individual menu cards at the table, and the entire room was awash in candle light.  The highlight of the night was an incredibly fun and playful choreographed first dance- just the right touch of sillyness added to tradition to highlight their amazing chemistry.  Paige Bertelsen worked beautiful magic, capturing all of the happiest moments of this day.

Vicki and Brooks, Family and Food

by Jessica on January 23rd, 2013 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Vicki and Brooks are a couple that care about the details.  It was so fun to work with them on plans for this beautiful dinner, as we share a love of beautiful food and wine and they were careful to make this a meal their guests would rave about.  A cheese course was added, and a special venison and lobster entree created to satisfy their large game loving group.  The couples favorite wines were paired with each course.  The children were not forgotten either, with chocolate mousse mice with chocolate tails served at dessert.  This intimate wedding was a family and food focused evening filled with candlelight and laughter.  Beautiful photos captured by Silvania Difranco.

Mary and Michael, Tidewater

by Jessica on January 14th, 2013 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Mary and Michael’s wedding was a celebration of their beautiful family, and the love shows through in every photo.  They hoped to create a tropical beach vibe, incorporated within the details of the ceremony in the Mission Blue Chapel and reception in our Tidewater Room.  Kate’s Blossoms created a beautiful chuppah integrated with orchids for the ceremony.  The Tidewater, designed by Kate and the couple’s amazing planners at I Do Wedding Management, shone like never before with this lovely wedding.  The rust colored draperies were paired with a bright aqua blue, and beautiful graphic linens including both colors.  Wavy seaglass touches, sand-dollar escort cards, and drift wood table number holders brought the theme together effortlessly.  In place of a guest book, a station was set-up for guests to each write a message in a bottle for the couple.

Kari and Kevin, Classic in Creams

by Jessica on January 7th, 2013 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Kari and Kevin’s wedding was deep-intake-of-breath- at-first-sight, kind of pretty.  So pretty that it surprised me, even though I have seen hundreds of weddings.  But I shouldn’t be shocked by this.  Kari is the fabulous owner of a home design business, and her collaboration with one of my very favorite planners, Lisa McNichol of And Something Blue, yielded something very special.  The design for Verbena Room was classic, creams with an underlying tone of gold and a little bit of sparkle.  Torryne from Birch knocked the flowers out of the park with beautiful whites and natural colors adoring the queens tables.  Calligraphy details tied it all together.  Cocktails took place throughout the second floor of the restaurant building, using the exquisite table in Mariposa for a lavish cheese display.  Following the dinner in Verbena, the group moved up to Mission Blue set with gold sparkly linens with a subtle polka dot theme and beautiful lounge areas to end the evening with DJ Jason Mitchell keeping the party going.  The incredible Anna Kuperberg was on-site to record it all.

Natalie and Bob Featured on Style Me Pretty Today!

by Jessica on January 2nd, 2013 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

Jerry Yoon‘s photos of Natalie twirling on Mission Blue Lawn, may forever be my Cavallo Point go-to happy place.  There is something about the sunshine, the peak-a-boo bridge view, the vast lawn and her swirling skirts, that just makes me smile.  Oh, and did I mention that she is gorgeous? It was no surprise to me that this wedding would be featured on Style Me Pretty, but I am so glad that they saw what I did in this lovely wedding!

Natalie and Bob’s amazing planner, Simone Lennon, offered to write this feature post, and as I loved watching her vision come together, I thought it would be perfect if she was the one to describe it-

“I first started working with Bob and Natalie sixteen months before their wedding date. When I first met Nat for lunch, we immediately hit it off. Natalie is one of the coolest girls with the coolest diction. She’s just a fun and delightful person to be around – witty, funny, drop dead gorgeous, AND has no idea. Bob is more reserved than Nat, but is her perfect compliment – disarming, funny and very charming. Together, these two are a blast and we had an amazing time planning.

One of the most special moments was being with them during our site tour at Cavallo Point. I loved watching them fall in love with the property and having their “ah ha” moment together on the ceremony lawn overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. They hugged and looked over at me with excitement and said, “we love it”.

Over the next month or so, we put together an all-star team of vendors who each shared the same connection and style with our couple.

The next several months were spent in constant design collaboration between myself, Yasmin of Floral Theory and Natalie. Together we came up with a gorgeous color palette of peach, ivory and sapphire blue with rustic and organic, yet elegant touches. Nat is super artsy and relaxed so it was important to her that nothing was too fussy or overworked but was still beautiful and understated.

Cavallo Point was the perfect environment for it all.

The ceremony was held in Cavallo’s Mission Blue Chapel where a twenty foot ivory tulle wall was custom made from inspiration of Natalie’s gorgeous Amsale gown. It played an amazing backdrop to their simple ceremony where we lined the aisle with water and pillar candles, tons of ivory Rose petals and white Phalaenopsis Orchids.

The cocktail hour, which was held on the Mission Blue lawn, had a more rustic feel with dark wood lounge furniture and custom wine barrel bars and kiosks.  We loved the deconstructed floral treatments of ivory HydrangeaJuliet garden roses and white Parrot Tulips. The space boasts an amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge which was a special sight for a heavily East Coast guest list who all took advantage of the natural photo-opp.

The dinner reception in Cavallo’s Callippe Room echoed the rustic romantic feeling again featuring dark wood farm tables and delicate sheer ivory runners flush with floral and lots of natural candle light. The guests dined on three delicious courses – a citrus salad with uni, heirloom potato bisque, and a duo of roasted Petrole Sole and braised short ribs. For dessert, three flavors of the best wedding cake created by Perfect Endings.

It was a magical and flawless day with an amazing couple with their very special friends and family. I wish we could do it all over again every year.

Congrats again, Bob and Nat!”

Rosalie and Mike

by Jessica on January 2nd, 2013 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

What a better way to start the new year of blogging than with this loveliest of lovely couples.  Rosalie and Mike are truly two of the most beautiful people- inside and out- that I have ever met.  They exude warmth, kindness and fun, and I feel so very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with them on their wedding.  The amazing Melissa of A Simple Ceremony created the playful and fun floral design complete with buddahs hands, palm fronds, and paper lanterns.  I loved all of the color and joy throughout this day, mirrored by the incredible happiness of Mike and Rosalie to be marrying eachother.  This is the kind of wedding that gives you a case of the warm fuzzies that lasts for weeks.  Going through Gertrude and Mabel’s pictures of the day, I am experiencing it all over again.  Planning by the wonderful Lisa McNichol of And Something Blue.

Arran and Jack, Mistletoe and Holiday Poppers

by Jessica on December 17th, 2012 in Real Weddings, | No Comments

This beautiful winter wedding really does everything right.  Arran and Jack managed to honor their cultures with beautiful wintery details, bring in some holiday cheer, and have quite a bit of fun!  I love that Lion Photography did not miss a moment, starting with the adorable trail of guests, following the bagpiper with the bride and groom leading the charge from ceremony to reception.  Once inside Callippe, guests found themselves in a scene set with beautiful silver adorned centerpieces filled with greenery with soft white flowers by Sharla Flock Designs.  Adding a bit of playfullness to the romantic centerpieces and classic grey linens, are the bright yellow holiday poppers at each seat, an homage to a family tradition celebrated by Arran and her relatives since she was a child.   Following dinner, Keith Johnson All Stars (a personal favorite of mine!)  provided the entertainment in the foyer, underneath a dramatic mistletoe overhang.  A cigar bar was set out on the terrace for moments of quietude around the firepit.
